Plane’s history
This aircraft was manufactured by Douglas Corporation in 1943 as a DC3A destined for commercial aviation in the USA. It was later donated by the US Government to Canada, where in 1949 was converted to a C47 Dakota. When surplased by the Canadian military, it entered commercial service in Canada, again as a DC3. In the early 60s, AVIATECA (the Guatemalan airline) purchased it to replace a DC3 that had been destroyed by fire in Tikal.
